He made known His ways to Mosheh, His acts to the children of Yisra’ěl. (Psalm 103:7, TS2009)
There’s a big difference between seeing what יהוה does and truly knowing who He is. Yisra’ěl witnessed mighty acts, water from rock, manna from heaven, the sea split open; yet it was easy to explain them away as “just nature” or “just timing.” Doubt existed then too.
Mosheh started with an act too: the burning bush that blazed but wasn’t consumed (Exodus 3:2-3).
That got his attention, but the real encounter came from the Voice and the Name. From that moment, Mosheh learned יהוה’s ways; His mercy, justice, faithfulness, and character.
Acts get our attention.
Ways build intimacy and maturity.
His acts are the visible miracles that strengthen faith. His ways are deeper: the heart, covenant love, and “how” and “why” behind what He does. Eliyahu heard Him in the still small voice, not wind, earthquake, or fire
(1 Kings 19:12).
Job trusted in the ashes: “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him” (Job 13:15).
Yahusha said, “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed” (John 20:29).
—My Burning Bush Moment—
After my only son passed in 2017 at age 26, grief tore a hole in my heart. Alone in my bathroom, I slammed my hands against the wall and cried out for the Holy Spirit to take the pain away. As I said the word away… it was gone. Instant peace and lightness filled me. That was pure mercy I didn’t deserve…my burning bush. It turned me from only believing in a Creator to truly seeking and knowing Him through His Word.
I share this carefully. Not everyone gets a dramatic moment. Some cry out and the pain remains. Some walk with Him in silence for years. That doesn’t mean He’s absent or loves you less. He is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18) and collects every tear.
Whether through fire, whisper, or waiting, turn aside and seek His ways. Acts can lift us for a moment. His character (compassionate, patient, faithful) holds our hearts for a lifetime.
When we stop chasing only miracles and seek the One behind them, grief doesn’t always vanish… but we are never alone in it.
That’s teshuva …returning to Him and His ways.
That’s where real healing begins.
